$29.80

White Peony is a type of white tea that originates from China's Fujian Province. It is one of the most popular and high-quality white teas, prized for its rare, delicate flavour, natural sweetness, and floral aroma. Here's an overview of White Peony white tea:

Characteristics

Appearance:

  • Bai Mu Dan is made from the top bud and the first two leaves of the tea plant, Camellia sinensis.

  • The leaves are larger and have a mix of green and silver-white colours due to the combination of unopened buds and young leaves.

  • The silvery buds give the tea its distinctive look, while the leaves add complexity to the flavour.

Flavour:

  • The flavour is light, floral, and slightly fruity, with notes of honey or melon.

  • It has a smooth mouthfeel and lacks the grassy or astringent qualities of green tea.

Processing:

  • White Peony undergoes minimal processing: it is plucked, withered, and dried. There is no rolling or oxidation.

  • This gentle processing preserves the tea's natural compounds, giving it its unique flavour and aroma.

Health Benefits

Like other white teas, White Peony is rich in antioxidants, particularly catechins, which are known for their health benefits. Some potential benefits include:

  • Supporting skin health and reducing signs of aging.

  • Boosting metabolism and aiding weight management.

  • Enhancing immune system function.

  • Promoting relaxation due to its low caffeine content compared to green or black teas.
